We are into week six of the One Room Challenge, an online design event started by Linda at the blog Calling It Home, that challenges featured designers and guest bloggers to re-imagine one space in the span of six weeks (this time the challenge was extended to seven weeks due to the storms and wildfires). This week was all about tying up loose ends for me as we move towards the final reveal next week.

You’ll remember last week, I had a snafu with one piece of the art for the walls. I made a print with a wreath and the word welcome to greet guests as they enter the house. I had a picture I no longer wanted to use in the house but I loved the frame. The problem was the existing picture and frame were all one piece. So to re-purpose the frame, I had to cut the print to the opening’s odd dimensions. The first time I printed the picture, the graphic was a bit too wide so I reprinted it.
I cut it down using a straight edge and a box cutter and affixed it to the frame with some spray adhesive.
Then before I could hang my new welcoming wall art, I had to do some touch up painting I talked about last week. My youngest is an artist and our walls were his canvas when he first discovered the joys of crayons and markers and any other writing implement he could dredge up in our house. Not hard to do with an 11 and 13 year old leaving their stuff all over the house. Sharpies, anyone? At any rate, there were a few spots in our entryway where I couldn’t wash off the masterpieces and I had to resort to covering with paint. 
Once the wall was looking good, I hung the print. The black frame ties into the overall theme of the foyer and I’m digging it.
What other loose ends did I tie up? Well, I did some touch up painting on my baseboards, which I didn’t bother to photograph. And, I ordered the new light fixtures – but I am going to save that for the reveal!
